20 minutes
What does 20 minutes mean to you?
How much can you accomplish in this amount of time?
How much time really is 20 minutes?
Let’s break it down.
It’s 1,200 seconds.
It’s one third of an hour.
There are 72 (20) minute blocks throughout the day, and ….
there are over 500 (20) minute blocks in a week.
Does 20 minutes fly by, or does it seem to take forever?
Of course that all depends on the situation.
What does 20 minutes mean to you in the following scenarios:
20 minutes to spend with a loved one, for the last time.
20 minutes to meditate.
20 minutes to prepare your day.
20 minutes waiting to jump out of an airplane.
20 minutes to paint an entire house.
20 minutes to eat breakfast.
20 minutes to sing in front of 50,000 people.
20 minutes to take a 500 question exam.
20 minutes to provide your life summary.
20 minutes to convince a company they should hire you.
20 minutes to write a blog post.
I am sure that each scenario yields a different emotional response, based on your comfort level with that topic.
If you eat your breakfast standing up or driving, then 20 minutes probably seems like an eternity.
If you’ve never meditated, 20 minutes may seem impossible.
If you live in a dog house, 20 minutes may not seem as limited as what you originally thought.
If you are uncomfortable talking about yourself, 20 minutes may be painful.
If you’re like me, writing a blog post in 20 minutes would be record breaking.
How did the last 20 minutes of the Open Championship feel for Adam Scott this past weekend?
Why am I writing about 20 minutes?
I want you to understand that everything in life is how you perceive it.
If 20 minutes seems like a lot of time, good for you.
If 20 minutes seems to pass like the blink of an eye, slow down.
Time is the most consistent thing we can associate with.
Time is precious.
Time is your most valued commodity.
Make the most of your 20 minute blocks throughout each day.
Continue to ask yourself “What can I accomplish in the next 20 minutes?”
You will be surprised at how focused it can make you feel, and what you can achieve.
